Speaker: President SNOC’s Address
Event: The Snoc Annual General Meeting 2012
Venue: The Raffles Town Club

Your Excellency Antony Phillipson, British High Commissioner to Singapore;
Mrs Jessie Phua, Chef-de-Mission to the London 2012 Olympic Games;
Mr Frankie Thanapal Sinniah, Chef-de-Mission to the London 2012 Paralympic Games;
Team Singapore Officials and Athletes;
Ladies and Gentlemen;

A very good evening to one and all.

  1. In 2005, at the 117th IOC Session in Singapore, London was announced as the host city of the 2012 Olympic Games. Seven years down the road, come the 27th of July, the London Olympic Games will officially open with the parade of athletes, including Singapore’s team of 18 athletes. One month later, on the 29th of August, our 8 Paralympic athletes will participate in the Opening Ceremony of the London Paralympic Games.
  2. I would like to take this opportunity to encourage all our Team Singapore athletes to do their best at the Games and be good ambassadors for Singapore. At the London 1948 Games, Singapore had six athletes participating. We have today Mr Chia Boon Leong, who was one of the six athletes, here with us. He participated in football. I am sure Mr Chua has many stories to share with our London-bound athletes today.
  3. Let me end by thanking His Excellency Antony Phillipson and BP Singapore for hosting this tea reception to send off our athletes to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Thank you.

Thank you.
