SNOC Partners Athletes with Sponsors
SNOC Teams Up with Canon, Samsung and Singtel to Support Local Sporting Talents
Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) in partnership with Canon Singapore Pte. Ltd. (Canon), Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (Samsung) and Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel), presented to seven of Singapore’s promising athletes – Geraldine Lee (canoeing), Lim Heem Wei (gymnastics), Joseph Schooling (swimming), Jasmine Ser (shooting), Tao Li (swimming), Derek Wong (badminton) and Gary Yeo (athletics), with a grant to support the athletes’ training and development to a total of $144,000.00. These promising athletes were selected by the sponsors to be involved in their publicity programme towards the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Mr Ng Ser Miang, Vice President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Vice President of the Singapore National Olympic Council and SNOC Chairman Marketing Committee thanked the sponsors for collaborating with SNOC to support Singapore’s athletes in their pursuit for excellence. The objectives of the partnership programme are to promote Olympic values, create a general interest for sport in the country, raise the profile of our Singapore athletes at the major games which they participate in and develop initiatives with the athletes as role models to inspire youth and promote sport.
