Sun Bei Bei

Ranked 34th in the world, Sun Bei Bei first represented Singapore in the highly-esteemed ITTF Pro Tour Grand Finals in 2005 where she brought glory to the country by coming in 1st in the Women’s Singles Under 21 event. A formidable doubles partner, 22 year old Sun Bei Bei partnered Li Jiawei to win 2 consecutive ITTF Pro Tour Women’s Doubles events in Germany and Russia. So potent was this duo, that they were invited to play in the ITTF Pro Tour Grand Finale in 2006. Ranked 4th in the Women’s Doubles Pro Tour standings, they early secured a bronze medal.

In the recent 2006 Asian Games, Sun Bei Bei was made a heroine by the masses after Singaporeans witnessed her most exciting and pulsating match of the year. In the Women’s Team event, she was the key player in the match against Hong Kong. In the deciding set, Singaporeans watched with bated breaths as she went against all odds to defeat her opponent and secure a position in the quarter-finals.
