London 2012

The London 2012 Olympic Games was held in London, United Kingdom from 27 July to 12 August 2012.

Singapore was represented by a 49-member contingent lead by Chef-de-Mission Mrs Jessie Phua. The contingent includes 23 athletes, 16 officials and 9 secretariat personnel. Singapore was represented in the following sports: Athletics, Badminton, Canoeing, Gymnastics, Sailing, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis and Weightlifting. This was the first time in Singapore’s Olympic history where a canoeist, a gymnast and a female weightlifter qualified for the Games.

The flag-bearer was Ms Feng Tianwei (Table Tennis) and Ms Lim Heem Wei (Gymnast) recited the athletes’ pledge on the athletes’ behalf.

At the London Games, Singapore paddlers made history winning two bronze medals for Singapore in the following events: Women’s Singles (Bronze, Feng Tianwei) and Women’s Team  (Bronze, Feng Tianwei, Li Jiawei and Wang Yuegu).
