Rudy Mosbergen (8 April 1929 – 22 February 2015) captained Singapore’s national hockey team and competed at the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games.
The team’s defensive right back was often the top pick as player of the tournament. He demonstrated excellent consistency despite having to play all six matches in Melbourne, even scoring against the American team.
He felt that the team was perhaps underprepared and lacked experience against European teams at the Games. This led to a poorer performance than expected, although his team finished in the top eight and second in their group.
He entered the education sector after retiring from hockey. He became the principal of several schools, most notably Raffles Junior College from 1982 to 1987.
