Yao Lei represented Singapore in badminton at the 2012 London Olympic Games.

The Jiangsu native is a doubles player. She and women’s doubles partner, Shinta Mulia Sari, were formerly ranked eighth worldwide for 30 weeks in 2010.
That year, she won two silvers in the Commonwealth Games playing in the women’s and mixed doubles. In 2014, after returning from the Olympics, she helped the Singapore team to a bronze.
