It is with deep sadness to learn of the passing of our founding leader, Mr Lee Kuan Yew.

Mr Lee believed that sports will develop a rugged society. He was an advocate of sports and encouraged Singaporeans to lead healthy lifestyles through sports.

Under his watch as Prime Minister and Senior Minister, Singapore hosted the 1973, 1983 and 1993 SEA Games. He officiated the final leg of the Journey of the Youth Olympic Flame when we hosted the inaugural edition of the Youth Olympic Games in 2010. It is with deep regret that we will miss his presence at the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore this June.

Our condolences go out to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his family for their loss.

Rest in peace, Mr Lee. You will always be in our hearts.
