Singapore, 5 August 2015 – The finalists of the Singapore Sports Awards 2015 and members of the sporting fraternity gathered at the Marina Mandarin Hotel this evening to celebrate and recognise the achievements of our athletes and to those who helped shaped Sporting Singapore.

Organised by the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) and Sport Singapore (SportSG), and supported by Tote Board and Singapore Airlines, the Singapore Sports Awards 2015 honour the most deserving individuals and teams in sports for the year 2014.

Mr Tan Chuan-Jin, Minister for Social and Family Development and President of the Singapore National Olympic Council, graced the event as Guest of Honour. Mr Lawrence Wong, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Second Minister for Communications and Information, joined Minister Tan to present the awards to the deserving winners.

The winners of the Singapore Sports Awards 2015 are:

Best Sports Event of the Year (Local) – Netball Nations Cup 2014
Best Sports Event of the Year (International) – BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore Presented by SC Global
Most Inspiring Sports Story of the Year – “Aishah’s got the Asian Para Games in her sights” – Low Lin Fhoong, TODAY (1 September 2014)
Sportsboy/Sportsgirl Team of the Year (Event)- Loh Jia Yi & Jonathan Yeo (Sailing – 2014 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships – 420 Boys)
Team of the Year (Event) – Jazreel Tan, Cherie Tan, Shayna Ng, New Hui Fen, Joey Yeo and Daphne Tan (Bowling – Women’s Team of 5)
Team of the Year (Team Sport) – Netball
Coach of the Year – Sergio Lopez Miro (Swimming)
Sportsgirl of the Year – Martina Lindsay Veloso (Shooting)
Sportsboy of the Year – Aloysius Yapp (Cuesports)
Sportswoman of the Year – Jasmine Ser Xiang Wei (Shooting)
Sportsman of the Year – Joseph Isaac Schooling (Swimming)
