Chua Boon Lay (23 October 1902 – 5 October 1976) was the first Singaporean to compete at the Olympics. As Singapore did not field a football team, the Malaya Cup veteran was picked as a reserve fullback on China’s squad.

The team lost 2-0 to Great Britain in the competition’s knockout round.
