With matching grants from the Government, a total of $979,200 will go towards the One Team Singapore Fund

Singapore, 16 February 2023 – $489,600 from 35 corporates and individuals was raised for the One Team Singapore Fund (OTSF) at the inaugural One Team Singapore Golf Day jointly organised by Sport Singapore (SportSG) and the Singapore Olympic Foundation (SOF). With matching grants from the Government, a total of $979,200 will go towards the OTSF. The event was graced by Mr Edwin Tong, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth & Second Minister for Law, who presented tokens of appreciation to the donors and sponsors.

Established in 2017, the OTSF enables all supporters of Team Singapore to contribute towards strengthening the High Performance Sport (HPS) system. It offers one-for-one matching grants, up to $50 million, from the Government for donations to support Team Singapore athletes. These donations will be directed towards enhancing the athletes’ support infrastructure and capabilities, including improving their daily training environment, and in areas such as data analytics and sport science. It was announced during Budget 2022 that the OTSF Matching Grant will be extended for another five years until FY2026.

Dr Chiang Hock Woon, Co-Chair of the One Team Singapore Golf Day Organising Committee, said, “Every athlete goes through a journey of hard work, sacrifice, perseverance, failures, and successes. As they pursue to reach their full potential and achieve breakthroughs, we know that they rally the nation and inspire all Singaporeans in the process. All the donations received contributions today will go a long way in supporting their journey and bring them one step closer to their sporting dreams. These dreams are not just theirs, but the nation’s aspirations too. We are on this journey together, for this is what we mean when we say that we are “One Team Singapore”.

“My heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all the donors, sponsors and supporters for their generous contributions. As our Team Singapore athletes prepare for the upcoming major games and competitions this year, we hope that more Singaporeans will step forward in support of our national athletes through the OTSF.”

The One Team Singapore Golf Day was attended by around 150 partners, donors, sponsors, and Team Singapore supporters as well as 10 athletes across seven sports, including golfers James Leow and Aloysa Atienza, billiards player Peter Gilchrist, swimmer Quah Ting Wen, bowlers Shayna Ng, Cherie Tan and Jazreel Tan. Appreciation plaques were also presented to donors and sponsors to thank them for their contributions.
