Laser Standard sailor Colin Cheng booked two consecutive spots at the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games. He earned the latter after coming in 26th at the Laser World Championships and in 13th place in the Spanish Trofeo Princesa Sofia regatta that year.
Colin holds a medal in every colour from the Asian Games. He also won the 2006 World Championships in the laser 4.7 class, which is for sailors under the age of 18.
In his 2012 Olympic debut, Colin finished in 15th place out of 49 sailors, which was the best result posted by an Asian sailor. He placed 20th in his second outing.
