More information

Former national hockey captain Edwin Jeyaceilan Doraisamy (20 May 1923 – 2 January 1959) represented Singapore at the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games.

Edwin was both a national hockey and cricket player. When he went to the 1956 Games, he had already been in the national team for nine years. The defensive player played as a fullback or halfback during the tournament.

His Olympic venture, however, was to be one of his last for Singapore. Edwin was diagnosed with and eventually succumbed to cancer a few years after returning from Melbourne.
