About the Asian Youth Games
The Asian Youth Games is organised by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). The third edition in Bahrain will feature 223 events across 24 sports, with about 4,000 athletes from 45 National Olympic Committees expected to compete.
Singapore has participated in every edition of the Games held to date – first in 2009, when the Republic hosted the inaugural AYG, and again in 2013, when the Games were staged in Nanjing, China.
Quote from Chef de Mission Dr Low Chee Yong:
“The Asian Youth Games provides an important platform for our young athletes to gain international exposure early in their sporting journey. For most of them, this will be their debut major Games, and the experience will be invaluable in shaping their development as athletes. These Games are a crucial stepping stone in preparing them for future major competitions and in raising Singapore’s sporting standards. I’m proud of the commitment and hard work our athletes have put in, and I hope many of them will go on to represent Singapore on bigger stages in the years ahead. I’m confident they will embody the values of Team Singapore as they take on the region’s best.”
